Chameli Purty
Twenty two year old Chameli Purty is a skilled mask maker for Biponi.
Her association with us started when she received a scholarship from Kalamandir (Biponi’s parent organization) under their Medhavini Project, a support program for tribal women. On completion of her graduation in history, she underwent a training programme in sewing at Kalamandir which proved invaluable when Biponi started making protective facial masks during the pandemic.
Chameli is the sole bread winner in a family of five and dreams of starting her own enterprise in the future.
Saroj Hansda
Meet Saroj Hansda, our ace mask maker.
Saroj is a key contributor in mask making at Biponi. But just a few months earlier, the outlook looked bleak for the main bread winner in a family of five, as the pandemic rapidly shrunk her employment opportunities. Fortunately for both Biponi and for her, Saroj’s skills at stitching and embroidery enabled her to join the mask-making team.
Her handmade masks are available under the Biponi brand name.
